Mickayla’s sweet sixteen preparations commenced with her pre-birthday shoot at Wynwood in Miami FL.; a unique outdoor trendy destination featuring huge, colorful street murals by artists from around the globe and then ventured to Vizcaya Museum which is a villa exterior and garden architecture composite of different Italian Renaissance villas and gardens, with French Renaissance parterre features. The goal was to feature one photo daily from the 1st of July to her actual birthday on July 13th. The theme of her birthday shoot was to reflect a young confident joyous young lady. I definitely think she was successful with her execution. She had two outfit changes, one for each location and slayed them both and her makeup was flawless. Not only was she the subject of the photoshoot, but also the subject of her own makeup artistry. This was an emotional yet joyous journey for me because of constant reminders that revealed my baby is growing up into a young lady.
The next phase of the birthday celebration was the actual party itself. Mickayla’s vision was to have an all white party, but she’d be wearing a blue gown with African print accents in certain areas. Thank goodness for aunty and grandma for footing the bill. Mickayla’s plan was to make her grand entrance in that gown, party with the attendees and then change into another outfit later that evening. The entrance was exactly what she envisioned grand! Our master of ceremony Mr. Jean of Top-shelf Entertainment did an amazing job engaging the crowd and keeping everyone in suspense. Once the birthday girl entered, she immediately got into model mode and gave us a show as she walked to the stage. We then embarked on the father daughter dance which was a hit from the former Haitian President Sweet Micky Bidi Bidi Bom Bom. We were then joined on the dance floor by Mickayla’s mother to conduct our rendition of Rolex by Ayo & Tao. Lets just say we were trunt all the way up. This was a complete success; the décor at Genesis Events was amazing; DJ Big Ben had the party rocking all night long and the energy within the place was pure positivity. Our desire (Mickayla’s mother and I) was to ensure Mickayla was surrounded by friends and family which were hand picked by her. We wanted to ensure those in attendance were people who were impactful in her life which included her classmates of J.P. Taravella along with her Color Guard friends/family and her immediate family members. In short, I believe we fulfilled her desires. Enjoy the photos.
